Create Blog Post

Ready to publish your first article? In this guide you will learn how to create a blog post in WordPress using the NEOVANTAGE theme. You can also customize each post by adjusting the post options, which we cover along the way. Follow the steps in order for a smooth result.

How to Create a Blog Post in WordPress

First, follow these steps to add and publish your post:

  1. First, log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
  2. Next, navigate to Posts in the sidebar.
  3. Then click the Add New option to start a new post.
  4. After that, create a title and insert your content in the editing field.
  5. On the right side, add Categories. To assign one, check the box next to the category name.
  6. Also on the right, add Tags. Type each tag in the field and separate multiple tags with commas.
  7. Next, upload a Featured Image for your post.
  8. Finally, once you are finished, click Publish to save and publish the post.

Your blog post is now live and visible to your visitors.

Tips for a Better Blog Post

A few habits make each post stronger. First, write a clear, descriptive title, because it is the first thing both readers and search engines see. Second, choose one main category so your content stays organized. Finally, always add a featured image, since it appears in your blog layout and on social shares. For more on optimizing titles and descriptions, the official WordPress writing posts guide is a helpful reference.

Categories vs Tags

New users often confuse these two. Categories are broad groupings for your main topics, like “Tutorials” or “News,” and every post should have one. Tags are specific keywords that describe details within a post, such as “wordpress” or “seo.” Use categories for structure and tags for fine detail, and your blog stays easy to browse.

What to Do Next

After publishing, take a few minutes to round out your site. Add your new post to a navigation menu so visitors can find it, which our guide on how to create a WordPress menu explains. If you have not finished setting up the theme yet, see our WordPress information guide for the basics.
