Featured Images & Image Sizes

Good featured images and image sizes make your posts look professional in lists, archives, and related-posts sections. NEOVANTAGE registers its own image sizes so thumbnails are always sharp and correctly cropped.

  1. Edit a post or page.
  2. In the Post settings panel, find Featured image and click Set featured image.
  3. Choose or upload an image and update the post.

Image Sizes NEOVANTAGE Creates

  • Blog medium – 410 x 410, cropped; used in blog and archive listings.
  • Blog large – 1038 px wide; used for the large featured image on single posts.
  • Recent posts – 86 x 65, cropped; used by recent-posts widgetsWidgetA small content block you place into a sidebar or widget area..

For the crispest images, upload featured images at least as large as the size that will be shown – around 1038 px wide or more for single posts.

Switched Themes? Regenerate Thumbnails

If you activated NEOVANTAGE on an existing site, your old images were not cropped to these new sizes. Install a pluginPluginA package of code that adds features to a WordPress site without altering core files. such as Regenerate Thumbnails and run it once so every image gets the NEOVANTAGE sizes. New uploads are handled automatically.

No featured image on older posts? The themeThemeA collection of templates and styles that controls how your site looks. can pull the first image from the content as a fallback.
